When first confronted with the word Aromatherapy, one can be forgiven for thinking that this form of healing is exclusive to the sense of smell, and therefore only works on the emotional level.
This is not the case as each oils combination of constituents has the ability to interact directly with the body's chemistry, which in turn affects certain organs or systems as a whole. When used in massage, the oils are absorbed into the blood stream through the skin and are transported throughout the body and become a very effective and powerful healing tool for the practitioner.
Assignment 1
A detailed profile of the use of aromatics and essential oils from the first recorded notation to present day usage.
Extensive details of the safe usage of essential oils for both the recipient and the practitioner, contra indications for massage and aspects of oils.
Assignment 2
In this assignment we briefly cover the most important systems of the body.

The effects of essential oils on the body from inhalation to massage. Details given of how the oils affect various systems in the body.
Assignment 4
Further knowledge of the effects of essential oils plus their various methods of usage.
Assignment 5
Detailed knowledge of various methods of production of pure essential oils together with their chemical make-up.
Assignment 6
Detailed knowledge of the therapeutic and aesthetic values of blending various oils, fragrance harmony and personal perfumes, together with beauty applications.
Assignment 7
An in-depth profile of stress, its many causes and how Aromatherapy can help to reduce it.
Assignment 8
Learners project. Create the scented garden of your choice.
Assignment 9
Ten very different case histories given in detail together with information on how they help the practitioner.
Assignment 10
How Aromatherapy can help everyone from children & adults with special needs, to the family pet.
Also, included are fifty information sheets on individual oils
On completion of your course, you will receive two qualifications:
Qualification 1: Aromatherapy - Gentle Touch Diploma
Aromatherapy - Gentle Touch Diploma issued by Stonebridge Associated Colleges, entitling you to use the letters SAC Dip after your name.
Qualification 2: ASET Level 3 Aromatherapy - Gentle Touch Award
This Course leads to an ASET Level 3 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independantly accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3).
The Award has been designed by a learning provider to meet specific learners' or employers' requirements and as such is not listed as a qualification on NQF. While the duration, content or assessment may vary from similar national qualifications, in accrediting the programme at level 3, ASET attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 3 national qualification.
There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 110 hrs.
Assessment Method
After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.

On completion of this course students can apply for membership to the Society for Holistic Therapists and Coaches (SHTC) , a professional body who are dedicated to recognised standards of qualification and practice - students will also be able to use the initials 'SHTC' after their names.
